Activities

There’s no shortage of things to do at our nursing homes. We have dedicated members of staff whose sole job is to oversee activities and ensure that our residents are kept entertained. Staff members also provide vital companionship – on hand for cosy chats about anything from current events to distant memories of the past.

Among our organised group activities we offer many different quizzes, reminiscence sessions, arts and crafts, 10-pin bowling, afternoon films with choc-ices, all of which are firm favourites. We also never forget that not everyone wants to take part in group activity but would very much like some one-to-one time, playing chess or cards or a board game or even just chatting about the weather.

There are gentle exercise sessions involving stretching and pedal machines, all of which help keep things moving!

Gardening is something we find many of our residents enjoy. At each of our homes we have a garden therapy area with raised planting beds which are accessible in a wheelchair and make tending flowers and vegetables very easy. We can then arrange for the chefs to prepare and cook our own homegrown produce.

Each home has a well stocked library (including talking books) as well as free wireless broadband for those technically minded and wishing to gain access to the internet.

We also have a regular group of outside entertainers such as singers, tribute acts and even a visiting zoo, all of which always prove extremely popular.

Finally, we are also able to arrange church services, which are held in the nursing home itself.
